In my view, the sweetest, funniest thing that was on TV this Christmas holiday - it is from the Victoria Wood Mid-life Christmas Show (on the tv programme there were no Apprentice contestants, they were added later by whoever uploaded the video).
Poem for the New Year
In the comings and goings
In the rap & roll
In the silence and chaos
In the shadow and the light
I write these lines
For New Year's is a time to move forward
To take stock
To run ribbons around the full blue moon
To chance a meeting
To make remembrance only apart of the future
To dance in the rain
To wander into a new venue for ideas
To embrace family and friends
As I float through these rooms
On a wing and prayer.

Last night I watched the new 'Star Trek' film and overall was pleasantly surprised by it - I wanted to see it because I have long loved Star Trek the Original Series, and been quite keen on the Patrick Stewart incarnation too - but I suppose I expected this prequel to be pretty naff. But it was quite exciting!
